Monstrous Abilities Galore

Thanks to all your help smashing through SHIVER Gothic's funding goal we've got loads to cover when it comes to stretch goals. Today we'll be talking all about the first stretch goal you've helped unlock. So let's get started.

Playing as monsters is one of the elements of SHIVER Gothic we're really excited for players to explore. We hope that being able to explore Gothic narratives from the other side of the aisle as the monsters themselves will unearth some really engaging role playing experiences for players. This first stretch goal has allowed us to expand the Ability trees for each of the Monster Archetypes and delve even deeper into the huge variety of monstrous features the creatures have to offer.

One ability path that we are really excited about is 'The Creator'. Much like the companion path in the Core Book this section of the ability tree is all about having a friend, but in the case of 'The Creator' they've made their own friends. Choose from a Homunculus or an Automaton and tool up or 'flesh out' your new friend to your hearts content! Just make sure to not collect spare parts from anyone you know.

Another ability path we are really excited about is 'The Obscured', this slippery character for one reason or another is difficult to spot. Perhaps they were the victim of an experiment gone wrong, or maybe they experimented too readily on themselves after a lack of volunteers. Just make sure to keep your eyes peeled and your valuables close to you while they're around.

The final path we wanted to talk about in this update is a classic, 'The Vampyr', one of the branches of 'The Immortal' tree. An absolute powerhouse of Gothic literature the suite of monsters wouldn't be completed without these blood suckers. But will players be able to keep their hunger in check or will their allies end up as a snack.

A story about bringing things to life

Well, it's been a wild ride for the first day of the Kickstarter with us reaching nearly 200% of our goal in the first 24hrs. Thank you so much for all of your support thus far and for helping bring SHIVER Gothic to life. We'll have more news on stretch goals in the coming days!

Speaking of bringing things to life we've got a bonus reward for all Kickstarter backers! We had set the target for funding at 48hrs for this early bird reward but you've already absolutely slain that goal. All backers will get a copy of the 'IT LIVES' story for free as part of their pledge. Our love letter to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
